Under the Youth Growth Project, on Saturday, 10th February 2024, the Visionary Students Initiative-VSI held the first Mentorship session on community service and mental health. The session brought together at least 100 girls from selected public schools in Luanshya. The project is supported by the U.S. Embassy Zambia Public Affairs Section.
The mentorship session was graced by the Luanshya District Health Director-Ministry of Health (DHD MOH), and the District Guidance Coordinator from the Office of the District Education Board Secretary-Ministry of Education (DEBS MOE). Senior management personnel from various schools, and guidance teachers were also present at the Youth Growth mentorship session.
Learners were subjected to theories of community service and mental health. Later on, learners were tasked to prepare and make presentations on the session’s thematic areas.
Learners demonstrated the ability to identify and analyze specific mental health and community service needs of the community they are serving.
