On July 6th 2024, #VSI witnessed the next generation of leaders share their knowledge and passion on vital topics such as mental health, community service, drug and substance abuse, and volunteerism. Ten Public Schools from Luanshya District showcased their dedication, creativity, and commitment to creating the district’s brighter future. The meeting was attended by 300 Learners and at least 30 teachers comprising Head, Deputy and Guidance teachers from respective schools.
The meeting was graced by dignitaries from the Ministry of Youth, Sport and Arts Director for Youth Development, the Ministry of Health Zambia Luanshya District Health Director, and the Ministry of Education District Education Board Secretary.
This activity is part of the #VSI Youth Growth Project currently running in Luanshya District. The #VSI Youth Growth project seeks to promote mental health wellness for young women while encouraging community service and volunteerism in secondary schools and communities.
The project is financially supported by the U.S. Embassy Zambia through the Public Affairs Small Grants Program. The Public Affairs Small Grants Program provides financial support from the American people directly to Zambian community organizations committed to improving the lives of community members through sustainable projects that bolster economic development, democracy and governance, health, and education.
