VSI TRAINS 16 VOLUNTEERS IN MENTAL HEALTH, COMMUNITY SERVICE AND VOLUNTEERISM

The Visionary Students Initiative-VSI has trained at least 16 volunteers in Mental Health, Community Service and Volunteerism. The volunteers will play a crucial role in the success and sustainability of the Youth Growth Project in Luanshya District.

Drawn from different professions and parts of Luanshya, the volunteers will serve as mentors to students involved in the project, assist in facilitating workshops, community outreach and mobilization.

In a bid to strengthen its relationship with local host authorities, VSI invited representatives from Ministry of Health’s District Health Office (MOH DHO), and Ministry of Education’s Office of the District Education Board Secretary (MOE DEBS) to witness the training and lead some sessions. The role of government in the Youth Growth Project lifespan is multifaceted and essential for its success and sustainability.

Launched on the 9th day of February 2024, the #VSI Youth Growth project seeks to promote mental health wellness for young women while encouraging community service and volunteerism in secondary schools and communities.

The project is financially supported by the U.S. Embassy Zambia , through the Public Affairs Small Grants Program. The Public Affairs Small Grants Program provides financial support from the American people directly to Zambian community organizations committed to improving the lives of community members through sustainable projects that bolster economic development, democracy and governance, health, and education.
