Accessibility and availability of essential care needed to support girls’ periods are cardinal to promoting menstrual hygiene and ending period poverty. Today, the Visionary Students Initiative-VSI and the Children Development and Empowerment Foundation-CDEF conducted training on reusable sanitary pad making at the House of Joy Orphanage in Lusaka. The main purpose of the period dignity project is to provide comprehensive resources on menstrual hygiene to support women and girls in lower and middle-income communities. We believe that education is a key factor in addressing the stigma surrounding periods, promoting respect and understanding, as well as enabling open discussions about what female folks may experience when menstruating.
